The purpose of the 1/12 Stock class is to provide a relatively inexpensive class for beginners, and for those who just want some cheap racing fun! The Proboat Miss Elam 1/12 Brushless Hydro PRB3550 and the Aquacraft UL-1 Superior Hydro AQUB20 are legal for this class.
We've already had one race, but we still haven't got "official" rules. They've been racing these boats in Springfield for a while and they've got a pretty good set of rules. The general concensus among the RCMYC folk seems to be to go with their rules but allow the use of any prop you want. The main things are that the motor and ESC must be stock and the bottom of the hull may not be modified.
Probable Rules For 1/12 Stock Hydro:
1.. Factory flex cable assembly and motor coupler may be replaced with any .150” Flex cable assembly and appropriate motor coupler. Motor output shaft may be trimmed to facilitate installation of motor coupler.
2.. Stock turn fin must be retained unmodified, but the leading edge may be sharpened. No modifications to the mounting bracket or bracket location are allowed.
3.. Stock rudder may be sharpened and water cooling hole may be cleaned up to improve cooling. No other modifications to rudder are permitted.
4.. Stock motor and ESC must be used. Electrical conectors may be replaced. Extra capacitors my be added to the power input side of the ESC.
5.. Motor Water cooling jacket may be replaced. Water cooling outlet may be modified or replaced. Water cooling tubing may be replaced.
6.. Receiver and transmitter may be replaced. Servo may be replaced bust must be of similar size.
7.. Any antenna may be used. Holes may be drilled in the hull to mount a replacement antenna, provided they serve no other purpose.
8.. The hull above the ride surfaces may be painted or have graphics applied as desired. Ride pads may be “scuffed”, but must otherwise remain stock.
9.. Any adjustment within the designed range of adjustment for any part is permitted. No part may be modified to provide adjustment beyond the given factory tolerances.
10.. Fasteners may be replaced with metric or standard replacements.
11.. Battery: 4S1P lipo nominal voltage 14.8V. Two 2S1P packs in series are allowed.
12.. Any Propeller may be used.
Emerald RC in Springfield, OR is also running a 1/12 stock class. The rules above are the same as theirs except that they require a spec prop.
